Lorado TaftOgle County Historical Society - Ruby Nash Museum

"the Discovery, Preservation and Dissemination of the History of Ogle County.   Thousands of items are on display and the home remains vintage 1900, including some of Ruby Nash's personal furnishings and records of her fifty years as a dedicated and well loved elementary teacher in the Oregon Community.  Open regularly on Thursdays year round from 9am - 12am, and on Sundays from 1pm - 4pm May through October.
The museum will also be open on Saturday, July 17th,  from 10am - 4pm during the Oregon Trail Days Festival.

Billy Barnhart MuseumLorado Taft
The loft at Conover Square, 201 N. 3rd Street, is the home of the Billy Barnhart Museum.  Travel through time as you enjoy the collection of toys, wagons, sleighs and more representing days past.  Typically open daily from 10am - 5pm.

Lorado TaftChana Two-Room Country School
Built in 1883, this school was once an active part of our county's educational process.  The school is unique in that it was the only two room wooden school built in this area at that time.  One classroom was used for the lower grades and the other for the upper grades, through grade eight.  The structure remained an active part of the Chana School District until the early 1960's.  After that time is was used for one class and a bus garage until its final closure.

In 1997, the school property was sold and the school was scheduled to be destroyed.  Concerned citizens formed the Chana School Foundation and the building was moved to its current location in Oregon Park East and renovated.  Currently used for special occasions and educational events, it once again serves to remind us of how education was carried out in times past.
