Oregon Trail Days
July
16 - 18, 2010 will be the inaugural celebration of the Oregon Trail Days
Festival. This three day high energy, entertainment packed event will
be held in locations throughout Oregon and will celebrate the Native
American
and western heritage of our area. Friday night starts the festival with
an
Outdoor Eatery and Saloon at the 3rd Street parking lot in downtown
Oregon. Local restaurants and not-for-profits will sell western themed
food while the festival committee serves up cold drinks. The Lisle
Grobe
River Ramblers and Smokin Gunz will perform and a special appearance
will be
made by Johnny Cash impersonator, Terry Lee Goffee. Saturday
events start at 10:00 a.m. with a blessing of the Black Hawk Statue at
Lowden
Park. Native American Indians will perform authentic drumming and dance
routines while cowboys show off their rope and gun tricking. The day's
events, all happening at Lowden State Park, will include kid's
activities, a
horse parade, food and merchant vendors, a bird of prey exhibit, and
much
more. Tipi and covered wagon camping are available both Friday and
Saturday nights. Park
East will be the host to Sunday's excitement which starts with an 8k run
(starts
at Castle Rock and ends at Park East) and Lions Club pancake breakfast. A
canoe rally from the park to Castle Rock or Grand Detour will end the
new
festival. The
Oregon Trail Days festival is being created as way to generate funding
for the
restoration of the Black Hawk Statue and to create awareness of the
100th
anniversary of the statue in 2011. We hope you will all come out and
support this new event in Oregon. More information can be found at .......... Back To Top
