E-Notes July 2012
Greetings!

Blessings this day! This past week I and a number of other people attended a hearing in Farmington related to the petition of PNM and the state of New Mexico requesting an alternative standard or plan to the EPA haze emissions rule for San Juan generating plant compliance. Surprisingly, nearly everyone who testified stated the need to move to clean energy and viable economics and that we need to phase out of coal. The 90 day comment period on the San Juan plant continues into October and there will be a consumer hearing in Albuquerque. Your voice will be needed. NMIPL will keep you posted.

As we continue to experience drought and much news about climate change that is not encouraging, let us continue to pray, talk to our communities and our part. The moral and spiritual voice is crucial at this moment. Please read more in this newsletter.

Peace and good,
Joan Brown,osf

Invitation to Earth Sabbaths throughout NM earth
Our times call for prayer, building community and engagement in caring for creation. NMIPL is initiating once a month Earth Sabbath events and would love to have volunteers to coordinate this simple and meaningful prayer and community experience in local areas.

We have a general format to follow which allows for creativity. Already we are planning Earth Sabbaths in Albuquerque and Gallup. Contact info@nm-ipl.org if you are curious or would like to initiate this simple program in your area.
