"OnAir is entering a new phase of its development.

Over the years, we have been involved in developing the airborne technology for inflight connectivity, securing telecoms regulatory approval and roaming agreements, and showing to the world at large that you can, after all, use your phone on a plane.

But those days are behind us. There is now a confirmed market for inflight connectivity and OnAir is the leading global service providers. Think of us as a specialist telecoms company.

From the passengers' perspective, OnAir is the name they see when they use their mobile or WiFi enable device during a flight.

And for airlines, we look after the services, making sure they are running as they should. We help them inform passengers about what is available and we provide a full range of support to help with installation and to fix any problems should they arise.

In fact, we are the only full-service global inflight connectivity provider. The most important words there are 'full-service' and 'global'.

By 'full-service', we mean we are the only provider operating voice, text message, mobile data - which includes using a smartphone for email and to access the Internet for example - and inflight WiFi.

Being global means that we provide a consistent worldwide service. First, SwiftBroadband, the satellite network we use, is global. And second, we have the most extensive network of regulatory approvals and roaming agreements.

Let's also stress that OnAir is independent and our services are already available either as linefit or retrofit on all major commercial aircraft, and the list of business jets we can equip is growing fast.

As the inflight connectivity market matures, we believe our global, flexible, multiplatform approach will provide what airlines need and their passengers want.

TAM Airlines extend OnAir inflight connectivity solutions on 80 aircraft

TAM Airlines clients will, in around a year, be able to connect their smart phones, tablets or laptops aboard the company's entire long haul-fleet, including Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

The decision to extend OnAir's services follows nine highly successful months in which passengers have enjoyed the chance to make phone calls, send and receive text messages and emails, and access the Internet on selected TAM short-haul flights.

OnAir's connectivity services based on Inmarsat's SwiftBroadband will be deployed on TAM's 12 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft (four already in the fleet and eight to be received by 2014 (all retrofitted), as well as on 10 A330s (retrofitted) and 27 A350s (to be delivered between 2014 and 2018 linefit). Including 31 short-haul aircraft, out of which four are already in service, a total of 80 aircraft will be equipped with OnAir's services over the next coming few years.

OnAir is also the only company to have all the relevant regulatory approvals and roaming agreements in Brazil.
Mobile OnAir on Two further Hapag Lloyd Ships
MS HANSEATIC and MS BREMEN passengers always in touch thanks to OnAir

MS Hanseatic

Hapag Lloyd, the luxury cruise operator is adding OnAir's mobile phone services, already deployed on MS EUROPA, to its two Expedition ships, MS BREMEN and MS HANSEATIC. The latter ship is already in service.

OnAir's satellite service allows passengers to use their own mobile devices just as they do on dry land, for calls, text messages, email and mobile data. Usage is billed by the passenger's mobile operator, in the same way international roaming, making it very simple to use.

The OnAir service uses the ships' existing satellite system, and the relevant equipment can be installed during routine maintenance stops between cruises.
The technology has been designed to be scalable, meaning it is simple to increase capacity to meet demand.

MS HANSEATIC and MS BREMEN take passengers to the most remote parts of the world, including the Polar Regions, the Amazon, and the South Seas. And with some cruises lasting up to a month, as seen from experience with MS EUROPA, the ability to stay in touch is crucial for passengers.
