The Spiritual Care Collaborative committed to support the people of Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami

The photos, images, and videos of the disasters of Japan keep constantly before us the affliction on their people. Some of us have relatives and friends affected by the disaster. We are aware that these brothers and sisters, members of our human family who suffer and face even more impending agony and loss as thousands of unaccounted for people might never by found and the potential impact of nuclear fallout looms, experience profound spiritual and emotional distress.

The participating associations of the Spiritual Care Collaborative express their compassion for these brothers and sisters. Our diverse faith traditions call us to hear and respond to these brothers and sisters both with oneness of heart and multiple responses of care. Our members are committed to lead their colleagues in our diverse spiritual and pastoral care settings to reflect upon and choose ways to reach out to our afflicted human family in Japan.

Spiritual Care Collaborative (SCC) was formed to provide a common voice for professional pastoral care, counseling and education organizations in the United States and Canada. Our goal is to speak with a unified voice as clinically trained, qualified pastoral/spiritual caregivers who serve as chaplains, pastoral educators and counselors in specialized settings including hospitals and other healthcare organizations, the military, prisons, and the business workplace.

CORRECTION:  Understanding & Responding to the Mediation Agreement between ACPE and CPSP

In the February issue of the ACPE e-news, an article appeared entitled "Understanding and Responding to the Mediation agreement between the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy."

The last sentence of the article made a reference to ACPE's relationship to the US Department of Education, as well as a reference to CPSP's relationship to the same.  The latter reference contained inaccuracies and in the spirit of the recent mediation agreement, the ACPE retracts that statement.  The ACPE reaffirms its commitment to refrain from language or publications that implicitly or explicitly comment on the operations of CPSP.
