Spring Swap Meet
SUP * SKATE * SURF * WINDSURF * KAYAK
Our first spring swap meet brought chillier than average temperatures, but that didn't keep folks from coming out in search of a great deal.
Used SUPs were the item in demand but there were no participants ready to part with their beloved SUPs.
If you have a SUP to sell, please let us know. We'd be happy to promote it and consign it for you. We also have some demo boards at great prices. These boards won't be here long so act quickly if you want a great deal for warm weather.
Thanks to everyone who came out.
Our next swap meet will be Saturday, July 7th from 10-3 here at our waterfront shop next to Harpoon Hanna's. |

SOUL YOGA, Lewes, DE
Lewes - Hot yoga sounds intimidating, but a Lewes yoga studio under new ownership is making it so easy a child could do it. Soul Yoga Studio, formerly Hot Yoga Delaware, is refreshing its image and offering new classes for beginners and kids.
Owners and instructors Dimitra Kotanides and Jennifer Mitchell say they plan to make everyone comfortable in the studio - from experienced yoga gurus to first-timers and even children. "We're all still students; we are all always students," Mitchell said. MORE (Dimitra also teaches SUP YOGA with us).

Transporting SUPs on Roof Racks
Many people ask us how to put SUPs and other boards on top our vehicles. Here's what we and many others who have been board sailing for over 25 - 30 years recommend.
Nose down in the front and fins up in the back.
First of all, this is the natural direction of a board (facing forward). The many board sports enthusiasts I asked about this, just can't image driving with the board facing backwards. The nose pointing down, is more aero-dynamic for gas mileage. The other benefit uses the fin as a safety feature in the case of emergency braking. If the board were to slide forward in the case of you having to slam on your brakes, the fin being behind 2 sets of straps provides added safety and can help prevent the board from flying forward. With fins up in the front, you lose this benefit.
Are we saying that one way is right and the other way wrong? No. It's personal preference, but this is how we suggest transporting boards and why. (What we do feel is wrong is nose up in the front and fin down in the back).
We have THULE roof racks in stock starting at $249. All you need are side bars running front to back. If you don't have these, an extra foot kit is required for about $50 more. We'll just need to know the year, make and model of your car. We install Thule Roof Racks for FREE with the purchase of a SUP from DelMarVa Board Sports. We also recommend Dakine tie down straps. There are only $19 and they're are super strong. If your ride is a pickup truck, consider a Thule Tailgate Pad. We use one of these on our own truck. |
