When you think sunburn, do you always remember to protect your eyes? Yes, it's possible to get a sunburn of the eyes. According to the American Optometric Association www.aoa.org, 35% of Americans are unaware of the risk that UV radiation poses to their eyes. Symptoms of sunburned eyes can include redness or irritation, tearing, pain, blurry vision. When your eyes suffer a sunburn, commonly you will get a gritty, sandy feeling to your eyes. So protect those peepers and wear your sunglasses, and don't forget to apply the sunblock. If you are concerned about your eye health it's always best to schedule an appointment to see your Ophthalmologist.
With the record high heat wave that we have experienced, it's always a good reminder to drink plenty of fluids. Maintain your hydration needs with healthy choices that have no caffeine, and are low in sugar. Just remember, water all day keeps the doctor away.

Announcing Our New Arrival! |
 We are excited to announce our 'new arrival'! (And you didn't even know we were expecting, did you?!) Kristen Garcia, M.D. will see patients in our Thornton office beginning August 1.
Dr. Garcia recently completed her residency at the University of Colorado Denver. She loves the field of obstetrics and gynecology because she appreciates the comprehensive care of women, beginning with pediatric gynecology through childbearing and into menopause. Dr. Garcia enjoys getting to know her patients and helping guide them to make informed decisions about their health. Her particular interest is in minimally invasive surgery.
When Dr. Garcia isn't in the office or hospital, her time is spent with her husband and dog. Her hobbies include skiing, snowshoeing, biking, gardening, and perusing the farmers markets in the area.
