The year is almost over and the season for cooking, baking, celebrating, and of course, eating is here! To counter the extra calories, try adding an extra walk or two every week or locate a Zumba class in your neighborhood. Enlist a workout buddy and become accountable for a walk or workout at the gym. Make this your holiday season to maintain and not gain.
November is also home to The Great American Smokeout (November 17). For tips and support, check out Cancer.org. This month we discuss smoking during or before pregnancy and why you should stop now. Quit in November. Breathe easier in December.
A reader tip for Thanksgiving dinner: "Make your mashed potatoes early in the day and keep them warm in a slow cooker. One less last minute task at dinnertime. Plus, you can clean up the big cooking pot in advance of the dinner dishes!"
