Greetings!
February brings us American Heart Month, Go Red for Women Day (2/4), and let's not forget--Dark Chocolate Month. Need an excuse for a dark chocolate fix? How about the flavonoids (antioxidants)? It may lower your blood pressure and your LDL, (the bad cholesterol), and it just tastes good! Enjoy, within reason, and make sure you are choosing chocolate that is at least 65% cocoa. Milk chocolate doesn't give you the benefits of dark chocolate. For more on dark chocolate, see our article below.
National Wear Red Day is today, February 4. Wear your red to show your support for heart healthy women. Our office staff participates in Go Red For Women Day by wearing red to work and donating to the The American Heart Association for the opportunity to wear jeans to work for the day. Whether it is a red shirt, red shoes or a little red pin, wear red to join the movement!
Take care of your heart-this month and every month! See your doctor if you have any risk factors for heart disease.
Sincerely,
The Women's Health Group

A heart-healthy sweet treat? Dark chocolate contains flavanols, a type of flavonoid, that bring the antioxidants to the heart health party. Milk chocolate delivers some of the flavanols, but the higher fat and sugar content in milk chocolate may offset the benefits. Stick with dark chocolate and take it 'straight', without all the gooey caramel hiding inside. One ounce of dark chocolate, a few times a week, probably won't show up on the scale, but a weekly pound of chocolate might! Not a dark chocolate fan? No problem! According to
The Cleveland Clinic , you can also get your flavonoid fix in apples, red wine, tea, onions, and cranberries.

Co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles...Oh my!
|
|
The new year arrived along with new policies to our offices. We will now collect all co-pays, co-insurances, and deductibles at the time of service. We will store your credit card information (securely, of course!) for automatic payments. Our new program, Simple Solutions, is THE simple solution to keeping ahead of your medical bills. If you have any questions about our new policy, please ask to speak with one of the billing account managers or call the billing office at 303-280-2229, option 3.
If your insurance changed or you moved since your last visit, please update your records as soon as possible.

After months of labor, we are close to delivering.......our renovated office in Lafayette. If you visited the Lafayette office in the past few months, you may have seen or heard the construction 'chaos'. We expanded our office to include a larger reception room, more exam rooms, another NST room, new ultrasound room, more restrooms, a new procedure room, and another work area for the medical assistants. Thank you for your patience during this noisy time! |
