Greetings!
November is National Adoption Month
Pregnancy can be an exciting time. It can also be a painful time; and if unplanned, finding peace can be difficult. Getting pregnant might not be a possibility. Both scenarios can be heart-wrenching. Fortunately, there are options and we would like to discuss them this month. Often, adoption gets lost as an option for couples and pregnant women. For an unplanned pregnancy, now may not be the right time financially or career-wise to start a family. For some women, conceiving isn't possible. Along with the information we have provided here, we also included a few resources that will give you a starting point in making this big decision.
Our physicans are happy to discuss these options with you. If you are faced with these decisions, make an appointment today and we can help you!
Sincerely,
The Women's Health Group 303-280-2229/303-665-6016

Many couples are faced with the diagnosis of infertility and are considering their options. Often, there are media stories about celebrities conceiving babies in their 40's and 50's. However, many women who conceive at this age do so by artificial means such as in vitro fertilization or by using a donor egg from a younger woman. For many women and couples, these are not practical options due to cost, nor are they always successful. Adoption is a wonderful option for couples who are facing infertility or those who are looking to expand their family. There are many adoption agencies in Colorado that can facilitate adoptions. An adoption can be either an 'open' adoption where the birthmother has contact with the adoptive family, or a 'closed' adoption in which there is no contact. The arrangement depends on the wishes of the birthmother.
For women with an unplanned pregnancy, there are several options. Adoption is a wonderful choice for many women, but it is seldom discussed. Your doctor can put you in contact with an adoption agency to review your options and help you make an informed decision. There may be financial assistance available for women who choose adoption. Adoptive families are extensively screened prior to approval, however, the birthmother makes the final decision on which family will adopt her child. Some birthmothers have chosen to have the adoptive family participate in the pregnancy, delivery, and initial care of the newborn. Other birthmothers prefer a private experience. The physicians at The Women's Health Group have cared for many women who have chosen adoption. They are happy to provide the medical care and support throughout the pregnancy.
The Women's Health Group is happy to accomodate either of these options. |
