Departures is a juried exhibition that highlights photography by recent graduates of the Daytona State College photography program. This is the seventh year that the Southeast Museum of Photography has had the honor of showcasing the work of these recent graduates and it will continue to be a yearly summer event at the museum.

Graduating Student Photography from the University of Central Florida (Daytona Beach)

The B.S. degree program in Photographic Technology at UCF emerged from a partnership between Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida's photography programs. The UCF-DSC joint AS to BS Photography program offers a holistic photographic education which incorporates strong technical, creative, and critical skills to empower graduates for life long success in a variety of professional photographic fields.

Tall Timbers Plantation, Beate SassBeate Sass - TALL TIMBERS PLANTATION PROJECT

  

April 10 - August 12, 2012

 

This photographic project is about the former tenant farmers that lived on Tall Timbers Plantation in Tallahassee, Florida from the early to mid-1900's and honors the important role their families played in the survival of the plantations after the emancipation. This project includes the portraits and accompanying oral histories of the former tenant farmers as well as photographs created at the restored Jones Family Tenant House and the Beadel House, the plantation house, at Tall Timbers.

Practicing long exposure photography is a great exercise for individuals who want to perceive the world in new ways. Learn how to blur and soften the motion of water, to elicit dramatic effects and reveal shadow details, and capture the paths of stars as they trail across the night sky.

Unless noted otherwise, all museum exhibitions, events and films are presented at the Southeast Museum of Photography which is located on the Daytona Beach campus of Daytona State College at 1200 International Speedway Blvd, three miles east of 1-95.
