The Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, by Florida state statute, collects, analyzes and disseminates healthcare utilization and research reports several times throughout the year through our Smart People Initiatives. Our Smart People Initiatives equip decision-makers and the public with the information they need to make informed decisions. Having access to quality and current health care and health-related quality of life data is critical in making sound strategic decisions regarding your business, your community, program interventions and policy evaluation. The Health Planning Council has over 20 years of healthcare utilization data and maintains 175 HRQoL indicators for our seven county area. We ARE a smart region.
Each year, the Health Planning Council, with input from local and national health experts, selects a healthcare topic to research. Past research topics included the investigation of the region's capacity to address hospital re-admissions rates and last year's ER and admission rates of youth sport related concussions research. This coming October, the Health Planning Council will release the findings of a year long investigation into the differences between the health status and healthcare utilization among the five living generations.
The Community First Hale & Hearty 7K plays a significant roll in affording the Health Planning Council to continue to improve the health of the region through annual research reports. Proceeds from the 7K race slated for June 2 race will support the 2012-2013 annual report topic: "Hot Spotting the Connection between Local Health Disparities and the Environment."
