Interested in starting an online business?
eBusiness: term used to describe businesses run on the Internet, or utilizing Internet technologies to improve the productivity or profitability of a business.
 
BHSU is excited to offer an online certificate program that provides an introduction to eBusiness. The Internet is changing the way companies do business. This course will provide an introduction to the basics of electronic business and includes project planning, as well as marketing, customer service and business plan development. The course focuses on how eBusiness is carried out, including marketing, web design, and electronic retailing, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this form of commerce, the infrastructures in place to support this type of electronic business, and the global economy within which it takes place.
 
This course will examine four major topic areas:
(1) Designing and building an online business website
(2) Developing marketing and customer service plans
(3) Creating a comprehensive business plan
(4) Creating a detailed eBusiness design and implementation project plan
 Upon completion of the eBusiness course students will be able to:
  •  Understand the concepts and terminology related to e-Business, such as retailing, marketing and infrastructures
  • Describe at least 10 actions required to start an online business
  • Identify hardware, software and other equipment needs for an online business
  • Know how to choose a web host and design tool for website creation
  • Identify successful electronic products and services
  • Know how to identify a target audience for e-Business products and services
  • Understand the steps required for marketing an e-Business product or service
  • Identify the accounting, privacy and security processes that are needed to protect an online business
  • Understand the potential pitfalls of online retailing and how to avoid them
  • Create a marketing plan
  • Create a mission and values statement
  • Complete a comprehensive business plan
  • Create a comprehensive project plan
