Supercharged ID performance for factory automation applications

The high performance DataMan 500 fixed-mount barcode reader is powered by a proprietary vision chip technology, Cognex VSoC™ (Vision System on a Chip), providing unmatched barcode reading and ease of use not found in other image-based VSOCor laser systems available today.

DataMan 500 reads barcodes at twice the speed of other readers and is so easy DM500to use, and reads codes so well, that it doesn't have to be positioned optimally to achieve high read rates.

Unmatched read rate performance:

  • Cognex VSoC provides ultra fast autoexposure and image acquisition speeds of up to 1,000 frames/second
  • Read up to 90 codes per second
  • Decode the most challenging 1-D and 2-D barcodes with proven 1DMax and 2DMax code-reading technology

The cost effective modular solution for distributed control

Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. is proud to announce the expansion of their distributed I/O capabilities with an all new solution MELSEC STcalled the ST Series.

ST Series is distributed I/O how you want it, where you want it. Whether your building a packaging machine or a fully automated material handling system you can customize your I/O needs to tightly fit the machine requirements. This unique approach enables builders to easily deliver from over two hundred plus points of controllable I/O, down to as little as two points of I/O for any remote node configuration.

The new ST Series is well-suited for a wide range of applications, such as automotive assembly and production lines; material handling, sorters and conveyor lines; and packaging, labeling and stacking machinery.

Non-contact gauging technology

SICK's line of OD optical displacement sensors are reliable tools for optical gauging applications at extremely short ranges. They can measure distances as short as 24 mm with 0.02 micron resolution and have a fast response time of 1 ms. This makes non-contact OD OD Valueoptical displacement sensors an ideal alternate solution to mechanical measurement devices, such as LVDT probes.

The OD Value sensor captures the most minute differences in length, width, thickness, diameter, shape, position or eccentricity directly in the machine, without contact, with high accuracy and in-process.

Application example

This application example illustrates an operation which was previously performed using two air cylinders to heat seal the neck of the container.

By replacing the air cylinders with a ROBO Cylinder electric gripper, better quality can be achieved.

- The heat sealing is more stable due to the finger synchronization.

- The heat time can be adjusted more precisely.

GRHM

By replacing with the electric actuator gripper, the approaching speed was increased, reducing the cycle time by 25%, increasing production from 2,000 to 2,500 containers.
