Rev Richard K Schlak, Executive Director for the Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute, will be traveling with his family to Venezuela and Colombia during the month of June and the first week of July. While they will enjoy some vacation time with family in Maracay, a significant portion of the trip will be visiting LHMI intenational students and teaching classes.
One of benefits LHMI has experienced with online classes is the ability for students in different countries to participate in course work. Two countries with several students each are Venezuela and Colombia. While in South America, Richard will teach classes, again online, that will be available back in the United States.
While in Venezuela, Richard will:
- Preach at La Paz Lutheran Church in Caracas
- Teach an Intensive Course on Worship in Caracas
- Conduct a workshop for theological education professors on the Internet
- Teach a Discipleship workshop in Maracay
- Preach at La Fortaleza Lutheran Church in Maracay
- Celebrate his 20th wedding anniversary
- Visit with students and potential students
- Meet with Officials in the Venezuelan Government
While in Colombia, Richard will:
- Preach at El Redetor Lutheran Church in Bogota
- Teach an Intensive Course on Worship in Bogota
- Visit with students and potential students
To date, 25 students have signed up for classes in Caracas and 30 for classes in Bogota.
Please pray for Richard and his family during this extended trip. And pray for the success of the students taking classes, and the reliability of the Internet from South America. |
