| Conversations in Spanish
17 Students Participate in Intensive Language Study |
Most of the time, the Missionary Institute teaches students who already  know Spanish but need to learn more about the Bible and about mission work. This August, we did things a little differently. We invited Anglo church leaders to come and learn Spanish! 17 people came from many different corners of the U.S. for a week-long Spanish Intensive. We partnered with the "Language Plus" language institute and with Ysleta Lutheran Mission in order to give the students a taste of mission work, a dash of Mexican culture, a big bite of Spanish Christian songs, and a boatload of the  Spanish language. Even beginners went home with enough Spanish to give them confidence about speaking up. One lady told us that she is already starting conversations with Spanish-speaking parents at her pre-school.
 Since the program was such a significant blessing to those who attended, two dates have been set fr 2011 to afford the same opportunity to others, and to give our recent students a chance to do some advance training.
