REGISTERED SERVICE ORGANIZATION
In June of 2010, the Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute officially received Registered Service Organization (RSO) status with The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (LCMS).
RSO's are organizations "whose operations foster the mission and ministry of the church, whose program activities are in harmony with the programs of the boards of the Synod, and who agrees to respect and not act contrary to the doctrine and practice of the Synod."
There are a number of benefits to becoming an RSO, three of them are, "the ability to call ordained and commissioned ministers on the LCMS roster, use the LCMS logo, and obtain loans through the Lutheran Church Extension Fund."
Our thanks to Sylvia Diaz, Chairman of the Board for LHMI for leading us through the application process, to the LHMI Board members for this visionary step, and the staff of LCMS World Mission who helped process our application with the Synod.

| Student at Work - Rosy Lira - Juarez, Mexico |

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This past Sunday I went to Cristo Rey Lutheran Church in Juarez, Mexico - the church where Rosy Lira, one of our students, is serving and Jaime Martinez serves as Pastor. The church was packed! 30 + people confirmed their faith (some were new and some had been at the church for some time but had never been formally confirmed). Another 30 people were not able to attend in person (I gather that many of them come on Wednesday to special programs offered then).
After the confirmation, I gave certificates to three Sunday School teachers who had finished the Christian Education course with Rosy as their professor. Karl Heimer was present, and he said it was incredible to see this church, which had been practically dead just a few years ago, be so full of life now! You may remember in previous newsletters that Rosy initiated the Sunday School Program at Cristo Rey two years age that has reached out to so many families.
In Christ,
Richard |
