July 13th & 14th Wine Tasting: Founding Fathers of American Wines

1. Charles Krug, Sauvignon Blanc, 2010. Napa Valley
Their signature style Sauvignon Blanc with a eclectic array of fresh aromas giving the wine a beautiful bouquet of honeydew, peach skin, lemon grass and pear. Flavors of stone fruit and apricot balance seamlessly for a vibrant texture and crisp acidity. .

2. Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, Indian Wells, 2009. Columbia Valley Washington
"The Indian Wells Merlot offers ripe berry fruit aromas and jammy flavors typical of Wahluke Slope reds. This is a full bodied style of warm climate Merlot with a round, supple finish. They added Wahluke Slope Syrah to enhance the mouthfeel and rich fruit character. Food Pairing: Grilled Salmon, Blackberry-Merlot Beurre Rouge

3. Cocannon Petite Sirah, Conservancy, 2008, Livermore Valley California
The Concannon "Conservancy" wines are sourced from special vineyard land located in California's Livermore Valley.
As with most Petite Sirah this wine is very dark and opaque in color. It's made from 100% Petite Sirah and was aged in both French and American oak barrels. On the palate the wine is richly textured and has flavors reminiscent of natural blackberry, dark chocolate, espresso bean, and cedar wood. It finishes with some nice dry tannins and flavors that remind us of earthy blackberry and pencil shavings.
