Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority Opens Old Point Homes |

Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority celebrated the completion of its Old Point Homes project with a Ribbon Cutting held on March 16, 2011 at the project's site just off of Woodland Road in the City of Hampton. Old Point Homes includes 27 one- and two-story, townhouse-style apartments, all of which were constructed to EarthCraft standards and including five units meeting both Section 504 accessibility requirements and Universal Design standards.
The Housing Equity Fund of Virginia XII, L.L.C., a fund organized and managed by Virginia Community Development Corporation, is providing over $4 million in equity in support of the project based on the allocation of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to the project. HRHA is providing over $2.1 million of funding for the project. |

Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NNRHA) celebrated the grand opening of Orcutt Townhomes III, the final phase of the redevelopment of the Orcutt public housing complex, on April 20, 2011. The project provides a mix of 10 two-bedroom and 20 three-bedroom townhouse and garden-style apartments for low-income families in the Greater Southeast Neighborhood of Newport News. Two units meet section 504 accessibility requirements and half are built to universal design standards. The project is also built to exceed EarthCraft energy efficiency and environmental requirements.
Congressman Bobby Scott, John Hall, Richmond Field Office Director for HUD, Councilwoman Tina Vick, and Mike Hawkins, VHDA Director of Community Housing, delivered remarks at the celebration.
VCDC's Housing Equity Fund of Virginia XIV, L.L.C., contributed $1.9 million in equity towards the project. |

The Woda Group, LLC, Opens Preston's Crossing
in Prestonburg, Kentucky |
On April 26, 2011, The WODA Group, LLC, celebrated the ribbon cutting for Preston's Crossing, a 24-unit development in Prestonburg, Floyd County, Kentucky. The multi-family community consists of 12 two-bedroom and 12 three-bedroom units. Five of the units are set aside for special needs households. The development promotes energy efficiency through features like low-E windows, Energy Star appliances, and a tight building envelope.
Housing Equity Funds, a joint venture between the Federation of Appalachian Housing Enterprises, Inc. (FAHE) and VCDC, contributed $507,000 through the Housing Equity Fund of Kentucky II, L.L.C.
