In 2004, The Town Center Area CID met with community leaders, homeowners, employers, property owners, KSU, Cobb County, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Regional Commission, and state and federal agencies to set a vision and plan for the Town Center Area. Through those planning sessions, a Master Plan was created in 2004, updated in 2007, and was most recently revised in 2010. The 2010 update is an analysis of both current trends (changes from 2003 to 2010) and future projections through 2040. The Master Plan identifies the Town Center Area as the northern gateway to metro Atlanta. Kennesaw State University, unlike a Fortune 500 company that could always relocate, is firmly rooted and will continue to grow, offering an environment for educational research, development, and strong commitment to the community. Residential growth will begin to trend toward transit-oriented development (TOD) with a higher density evolving around a future multi-modal transit station. Pedestrian-oriented amenities --- multiuse trails, bike lanes, safe cross walks --- are integrated into all future improvements. Areas of green space and landscaping are no longer add-ons, but considered necessary elements in an over-all project improvement.
