Bell Choirs |
|
The choirs meet at 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30pm each Wednesday and play monthly in our worship services. If you are interested in joining one of the choirs, please stop by a rehearsal. Anyone is welcome to attend and join. If you have any questions call Kathy Ford, 228-7596, about the 5:30 or 6:30 bell choir or Janie Wilson, 228-0828, about the 7:30 bell choir. | |
Greetings!
You are invited to add your name to the poster in the Narthex indicating your participation in the "Prayer Project." This is very simple. When you attend worship, look around. Is someone you are accustomed to seeing in worship absent? Are you aware of someone who has missed a week or two, or more? Make a note, for your own reminder, of those persons. Pray for them. I don't just mean pray that you see them worship again soon. Just pray for them. If God gives you a comfortable opportunity, let them know you miss them. You might review and update your list as the month goes by. That is all. Most of us hope to see our attendance increase, especially during this Advent Season. This act of care and concern will bear fruit. I hope you will join this prayer project. Thank you to all of you who have already made this commitment.
Where will you be at 4:30 on December 13? Most of you already know! It is our Christmas Music Festival. Food will be served starting at 4:00. The music begins at 4:30. It will be great! Hearing music like this usually requires an expensive ticket! But not here, just come and enjoy! If you will, bring a dessert to share. Bring a friend, too. Your donation will go to support ministries of First United Methodist Church.
During this festive time of year there are many persons who are touched by grief and loss. It can be one of the most difficult times for those who are working through their grief. On Sunday evening December 20, at 6:00, we will have the Service of the Longest Night. Rev. Karen will be preaching. It is a worship experience ministering to those who struggle at this time of year. Perhaps it is for you. Maybe it will be a help to someone you know. It may only require an invitation and an offer to join them in worship. Please be aware of this unique worship opportunity and share it with others.
I am sharing a hearty thank you to all of you who have returned 2010 Stewardship Commitments. Every one of us makes a positive difference with our commitments in our praying, attending, giving, serving, and witnessing. If you have not turned one in yet, please do! You can place it in the offering plate at worship of mail it back to the office.
Everyone seems to say something about keeping Christ in Christmas. How about making a special effort to be in one of the worship gatherings this weekend? With Anticipation, Steve Campbell

Give a gift this Christmas season that keeps on giving. Help Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity in their quest to build 40 homes in 5 years in Eastern Jackson County.
To participate, select a paper ornament from our "Tool Tree" located in the narthex. Remove the ornament from the tree and purchase the item or gift card listed. Place your purchase under the tree by December 24. Habitat tool trailers have been stolen or broken into twice in the past 3 months. These trailers have been locked and fenced at their office, but still they have lost several $$$ worth of tools. Let's help replace and improve the tool inventory.
