Greetings!

I know here in early July the Fall season may seem far away. However, there are a lot things happening as we plan for the next season. The staff and members of the Inviting Ministries Council are working on plans for a "Big Day" on September 13. I will say more about that very creative title a little later. Several things have contributed to this discussion. The Council on Ministries was evaluating last Spring's Open House, and began to wonder if something similar might be good for the Fall. Some Staff members had been wondering about how to "kick off" some new opportunities for the season. I was very interested in getting a large group together to eat (surprise). Then as we continued to talk, several facets of the idea began to take shape. Right now we are working on plans for two worship services that weekend. One will be Saturday evening and the other will probably be at 10:45 on Sunday. Something special will be planned for Sunday School, to which we will invite all adults and youth. A special Children's event will also take place at 9:00. This schedule will give us a little extended fellowship time between Sunday School and worship on Sunday morning. Then, after worship there will be a fellowship meal. The community will be invited. There will be special information about Fall programming. It will be inspiring to have more of us worshiping at the same service! So many of us never see others who attend a different service. Please, mark your calendar for September 13. It will be big!
So, why is it presently known only as the "Big Day"?  Well, "Fall Roundup," "Homecoming,"  "Open House," or "Rally Day" just didn't seem to capture the spirit of the event. So, thus far it is just the "Big Day." It is kind of growing on some of us! A better name may emerge, so that could change. But, the date is set. Plans are coming together. It will be big. But, it won't be quite as big if you don't put it on your calendar and come! So, write it down now!
Our attendance for worship last week was about what one would expect on a long Fourth of July weekend. I hope many of you had enjoyable and meaningful gatherings with family and friends. We missed you. This week there is another great opportunity to gather with family and friends. There will be great fellowship and a fitting celebration. It will happen right here at 5:30 on Saturday and at 8:00, 9:15, and 10:45 on Sunday. We will gather with friends and family to celebrate the Gospel. I hope you are here!

            Grace and Peace to You,
