What's New In The Archive
The Steel Pier Show
 
From 1958 until 1978  THE STEEL PIER SHOW  was broadcast by WPVI TV 6 live from the CASINO THEATER, THE GOLDEN DOME BALL ROOM and other locations in Atlantic City.

Second only in popularity  to Philadelphia's AMERICAN BANDSTAND the show ran  summer seasons for 20 years and presented a fabulous array of performers from Tony Bennett to The Jackson Five.  Virtually every performer working in Atlantic City at the time payed a visit to the STEEL PIER set.

Historic is currently in the process of transfering the
70 existing shows. So far we have discovered full performances by THE COW SILLS, HALL & OATS, TONY BENNETT, SOLOMON BURKE, THE JACKSON FIVE, JOHN DENVER and a young JOHN TRAVOLTA.

Haight-Ashbury 1968   

Photographer DONALD DOUGLAS was on the scene in "The Haight" during it's early years ( 1966-68) and photographed many of the areas musicians and events.

During the summer of 1968 Douglas photographed in 16mm color and black and white film several of the free concert events and"Be-Ins" including a huge concert on Haight Street that featured The Grateful Dead.

Historic has aquired exclusive rights to Douglas' footage and can now offer some wonderful and newly discovered B-roll shots of the Hippie era in San Fransisco.
