Coupons Are a Way of Life for Lottery Winners

In a recent Purse String Study, a survey was conducted on people who won the lottery. Given the choice, they would still use coupons despite winning money in the lottery. In fact, "grocery shopping leads the pack of purchases that provoke coupon use."

Greetings!

I hope that you had an enjoyable summer. We are heading into Q4 2011 with many changes taking place around us. One of the biggest changes is in how consumers want to interact with your store. Based on current trends, consumers want a more interactive experience. Smartphones, tablets, self-checkout lanes and more are the order of the day.

We are proud to say that we recently received an award for developing a more interactive and positive experience for shoppers at independent grocery stores in the Chicago area. Together with local Chicago grocers, and NCR, we identified a solution that enables customers, with English as their second language, to better understand and validate pricing and product information at self-checkout lanes. As a result, we now offer two additional languages at self check-out  Polish, and Italian. Options in English and Spanish were previously available. Please click on the link to see the video about this prestigious award NCBP- Wins Innovation Award.

Providing innovative solutions to our customers is, just the tip of the iceberg. We continue to strive for excellence in customer service. We are committed to making sure that your experience with NCBP is positive every step of the way.

Don't let all of the technology trends overwhelm you! Give us a call today. We have a dedicated staff that is ready to help you make sense of what's best for your business. Have a great Q4. And we look forward to working with you in the near future.

Best Regards,

Dean Crotty

NCBP Wins- Innovation Award

Winner Image

Imagine shopping for groceries and not being able to speak the local language. This is the case for many customers, particularly in the greater Chicago area. NCBP worked with NCR and their SelfServe Checkout to deploy a technology solution that helps independent grocers in the Midwest personalize and enhance their customers' shopping experience. The award-winning solution offers shoppers the ability to select between four languages at checkout: English, Italian, Polish, or Spanish, doubling the traditional options of English and Spanish. The technology verifies product and prices in the customer's own language. In recognition for its efforts, NCBP won an Innovative Solution Award from The Retail Solutions Provider Association (RSPA), and Vertical Systems Reseller(VSR) magazine.

One of the first independent grocers to implement the new technology is Tony's Finer Foods in the Chicago-area. Tony's is providing shoppers, with English as their second language, more language choices at SelfServe Checkout lanes. Tony's investment in the new technology is making it easier for shoppers to interact with NCR's SelfServe Check lanes. As a result, Tony's is building a strong base of new and existing customers. To find out more about how Tony's and other independent grocers are benefiting from their investment in this new technology, contact NCBP at 888-505-0540 or click on the image below to see more about the 2011 Innovation Award.

Remember BOB?

Remember BOB

It's easy to forget bottom of the basket items (BOB). Every time a BOB item leaves a store without being paid for, retailers lose revenue and margin. Industry data shows that grocery retailers generally lose between 0.07%-0.13% of front-end sales, or $9-$11 per lane per day.

How much does the loss really cost retailers? To put the loss in perspective, for every $10 lost, a typical grocer would have to sell an additional $500 to $1,000 worth of merchandise to recover lost profit. It adds up fast!

Don't get caught up in the fast lane. Keep more money in your pocket, take control with LaneHawk. LaneHawk BOB has been proven to reduce shrink, and recover 85%-90% of BOB loss, or $8-$10 of lost profit per lane per day. For a typical grocer, the loss recovery translates into $30,000-$40,000 in savings per store, per year. The payback for LaneHawk BOB is typically 6-9 months. Now that's a payback you can take to the bank!

For more information about LaneHawk BOB, contact NCBP. We can assess your current check-out lanes and provide you with a solution that will have a positive impact on your business. Call us today at (888) 505-0540. Click on the video link below to see BOB in action.
