Breaking the Cycle
In Her Own Words: Crystal
Crystal at graduation My parents are drug addicts and left me at my grandma's house when I was five.

At 16, my dad thought he could finally be a father to me.  But, I only witnessed constant arguing between him and his girlfriend, and his stealing and disappearing for days at a time.  After transferring schools 3 times within a year and a half, it was time for a change.  I stayed with friends and later a shelter.  Then I made my way to Our Friends Place and its Transitional Living Center (TLC).

I learned better money management and started to build my road to success.  I graduated from high school and enrolled into college.  Using the key essentials learned in the TLC's Thursday night group meetings, I have managed my own apartment for 6 months and am working on signing my next 6-month lease term.  I am currently in school for medical billing and coding.  Although I am gone from the TLC, I still apply some of the program's tactics to better myself now.  I work at Chili's and attend school full-time, just as the TLC would require us to work full-time and go to school part-time or vice versa.

Our Friends Place helped me realize, regardless of background or minor setbacks, you can make it if you are determined to make something with your life. I have definitely decided that my past won't effect my present or my future.  All it takes is determination and a steadfast belief that you can make it.
Easiest Way to Give?
Recurring gifts take away the worry about making your monthly or yearly donations, and you give more over the long-term to support girls & young women.

By establishing a recurring gift, you can help the girls & young women avoid prison, domestic violence, welfare, teen pregnancy, drugs, and homelessness.
Check it out here & see more cool ways to give online.  Virtual checks, anyone?
