Time Is Too Short
By: Lady 4.0
As we embark on the beginning of a new year, we should take time to reflect and concentrate on what is truly important. Even though we have all experienced hurt in one form or another, how we handle those situations can have a dramatic impact on our availability to forgive. As you read the article below make a conscious choice to forgive to begin your process of healing. For some of you it may not be easy, but doing anything worthwhile never is.

The Black Male Perspective on INTIMACY
(A Qualitative Study)
By: Ebony S. Muhammad, CT

Unlike any other Black man in the world, the Black man in America has survived the 400 plus year old lineage of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Furthermore, he survived being robbed of his culture, language, God, family, education, and nature. Yet, today he suffers severely from broken homes and family structure as he once knew it before being brought to America. These factors are significant to his current success or lack thereof to experience closeness and intimacy within male: female relationships as he truly desires to. As a result, the current image and life style of the Black man in America conveys a lack of interest, desire, and effort to experience and facilitate intimacy within a male: female relationship.
A more accurate account of how much value or emphasis is placed on intimacy by Black men is needed. Also, any positive correlations between age, family structure, previous and present experience in relationships will be discussed. This study seeks to answer the questions of how successful Black men will be in intimate relationships, if he so chooses to, and if Black men in America are interested in intimacy and being intimate in relationships, according to their own definition of the word.
There have been implications that women, with the exception of some, view and judge Black men in a general manner contributing all wrongs done by a few to the entire population as to imply that the negative behavior define what it means to be a Black man. This study seeks neither to prove or disprove the above statement, but to understand the root or why that conception or misconception exists. Thus, to know what it means to be a Black man in America you must ask one.

Lady 4.0 Speaks
Guest Columnist
Life often puts us in situations that, based on our decision making, can actively alter our progress. I have come to the realization that every experience we encounter, pleasant or otherwise, is to build a foundation in which we can grow and strengthen our character. One of the hardest assignments to tackle is being a strong and powerful "Black Woman". In my many conversations with sisters of all ages I find most of us are unaware or have not tapped into our true purpose. We are quick to believe the stereotypical standard society has set for us. This puts us in the mindset that we cannot rise above our current circumstances. God derived a plan for each one of us when we were conceived in the womb. If you are in an environment that is surrounded by negativity, it is almost impossible not to get swept away by its overbearing hands. This notion increases if you are born into a family circle that has never attempted to venture out any further than they were able see. Sisters, you owe it to yourselves to be and become the phenomenal women God hascreated you be. Sure challenges will arise, but there is no reason for you to remain in any situation if you choose to be released. Of course that will require you to pray and seek God's direction for your life. You will undoubtedly continue to be taunted by the words of those who know your past. This is, because even though you are attempting to engage in a direct mindset and direction for your life, they will forever hold onto the person you were instead of the person you are attempting to become. If you are going through a season in which God does not seem to actively have His hand over your life, I encourage you to remember the words of this piece that ensures He does. "GOD WHERE ARE YOU?" Today I find my mind wandering again about things from my past I slideinto my darkest place; you know that place no one else knows exist Lord, I seek you in this place but are you listening? For if you are my Father and I am indeed your child, should you not keep myenemies at bay? My life is a whirlwind of constant trials and tribulations GOD but I thought you saved me from all of that. I distinctly remember you say you will never leave or forsake me, did I misunderstand?
Talk to me GOD I need to hear your voice. I am drowning in a sea of desperation and I have yet learned to swim. My heart is heavy with despair and I just can't seem to see my way out. GOD touch me and hold me in this lonely place, rock me until the pain I feel no longer consumes me. GOD I know I've disappointed you and there are things I have yet to do, but I'm willing to take a stand and praise you in spite of my troubles. GOD when you speak to my heart; I hear you but am afraid to move for fear of disappointing you again. Then you remind me, my child (I AM) the giver of life. I gave my only son for you to be forgiven of your sins. I hear every prayer you pray. In order for (MY WILL) to be done in your life, as your Father I must sometimes let you fall. It is during those times that I am strengthening you and teaching you to rely solely on Me. Your trial will be someone else's treasure and your pain will be someone else's peace. Don't get discouraged if you can't feel My presence (I'M THERE). Don't give in to doubt when you don't hear My voice (I'M THERE). Don't allow the devil to convince you, you are no longer worthy of My love (I'M THERE). Don't let someone else's joy prevent you from continuing to praise My name (I'M THERE). Just when you think the pain is unbearable and you're sliding down into the pit of darkness (I SAVE). And when you feel My arms of protection around you and you can distinctly hear My voice once again (I'M YOURS).

Overcoming Addiction
By David 12X, Guest Columnist
Greetings,
I am a recovering addict (crack-cocaine). I am pleased and it is a great pleasure to have an opportunity to share with you my life's adversities with drug addiction. Today, I refuse to sit on the sideline and just look at what is going on in our communities and among the youth and poverished and say nothing.
Hurt 2 Healing is a wonderful vehicle to express and share my hurt and the hurt I have caused. As a result to God and His intervention in my life and active addiction, I have begun and am living a process of healing not only myself, but my wife and children as well.
I pray that what I share of myself can and will bring understanding about addiction and how it transforms a person, how our loved ones suffer and struggle with staying clean, and how you can help by being a support to them(not enabler) without being and/or becoming co-dependent. Please take to heart my words.

The Face of Jealousy & Envy Part II
By: Ebony S. Muhammad, Certified Thanatologist
Greetings,
When we find ourselves envious of another person, we are not really angry with that person who is the object of our envy, but we are in fact actually angry with Allah (God), because He is the one Who blessed that person with whatever it is we desire to have for ourselves. Furthermore, we desire them to lose it. Yet, what do we really know about that person? Do we even care about what it took for them to rise into who Allah (God) made or is making them to be? Better yet, are we willing to endure the trials they suffered and overcame to obtain their level of perceived greatness? In reality it is our misperception that causes us to succumb to such a disease of the heart.

The Origin of Hurt2Healing
By Bro. Jesse Muhammad- Final Call News Staff Writer , Motivational Speaker, and Artist
HOUSTON (FinalCall.com) - Earlier this year, an article in the popular VIBE magazine asked the question, "What happened to the Millions More Movement?" "The Millions More Movement is alive and well in the city of Houston," said Millions More Movement National Co-Convener Dr. Ben Chavis. Those sentiments were echoed at a Father's Day press conference here, with a surprising announcement. Pastor Kirbyjohn Caldwell, a prominent pastor of mega-church Windsor Village United Methodist Church, had offered his church's facility and agreed to partner with the Millions More Movement Ministry of Justice in its July 1, 2006 March Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (organized by men, for women). The march, originally scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. from downtown Houston, is themed "From Hurt to Healing, Protecting the Essence of Our Sisters." Supporters include Essence magazine Editorial Director Susan Taylor, the Hip Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) of New York, Million Woman's March Organizing Committee of Philadelphia, Congressman Al Green, Houston City Councilman Jarvis Johnson and a host of others.

With the theme "From Hurt to Healing: Protecting the Essence of Our Sisters," the Planning and Execution Committee of the Ministry of Justice designed a rally and march unprecedented in the city. How so? Because it was organized chiefly by men for women, who were given an opportunity to express their hurt and the means by which the healing could begin. The rally's opening remarks were delivered by lead organizer Deric Muhammad, who also serves as the Local Ministry of Justice spokesman, which were followed by the pouring of libations by Kofi Taharka of the National Black United Front. Anxious to turn the program over to the Sisters, Bro. Deric then quickly introduced key male leaders in attendance who all came forth to share brief words of support. "Any one who does not love Black women does not love himself," stressed Congressman Al Green (TX-9), who was instrumental in having a congressional bill passed last year to fight domestic violence. Councilmember Jarvis Johnson (District B) called on all men to start taking charge. "We must patrol ourselves and take a stronger stand for our women." As he spoke, others stood with blown-up composite sketches of a sexual predator that he and others are working to get off of the streets.
