Meet Robin Kirby, a certified PII facilitator with GE Healthcare.
InColor: What is your title and what do you do?
Robin Kirby: HR Manager, GE Healthcare. I support the Sales and Service teams in the Southeast.
IC: How long have your been with GE Healthcare and how long have you been training?
RK: Been with GE two years but have been conducting training for probably six years in various roles.
IC: How many people have you taken through colors?
RK: If my records are right a little over 200 people...about 20 different teams.
IC: What's your favorite thing about facilitating colors?
RK: The reaction you get from the participants - so often we conduct training and you'll ge pretty good feedback but you never hear anything after the session. I continue to get people using the Color's language and the actual session reviews are always outstanding. It is such an easy tool to connect with and it really sticks...the test of a good training!
IC: What's the toughest colors question you've ever gotten?
RK: Hmmm...I had someone ask me, "So can I use this in my divorce proceedings to show that my wife is allergic to me becasue I know she is for sure now!" Folks really are able to connect actions with basic personality components much better after this.
IC: Do you have any special training tip for delivering colors?
RK: As the facilitator, the more open and vulnerable you can be in your set-up and delivery of the journey line, the better. Also, the more analogies you can use from real life examples, the more they get it. Linda gave us some great ones during our train the trainer and I kept them and use them all the time. That's when you really see the light bulbs go off with people. For example, we tell our strong yellow/reds that they probably are actively involved in their child's PTA or president of the homeowner's association - strong need to lead social, active groups and you just see them smile and nod. :-)
