Secure TeleHealth proposes unique Video Conferencing solution for
Section 107 of the Veterans Mental Health and Other Care Improvements Act of 2008
Pittsburgh, Pa - December 15, 2008 -Soldiers returning to homes in rural communities far from the reach of VA resources can use inexpensive video conferencing technology from Secure TeleHealth to participate in "virtual" behavioral therapy groups consisting of their therapist and up to eight other geographically scattered participants. How it works
A computer or an appliance with a web cam is installed in each client's home and in the therapist's office. A virtual group is formed with all members participating from their homes. Each participant clearly sees, hears, and speaks to all the other participants and their therapist, with no restrictions on when they may speak. The therapist, above, left, is working with a group of 6 returning soldiers. More on how it works... |
Also used for Peer Support Services
The same TeleHealth appliance that connects the returning Veteran to his or her behavioral therapy group would also be used to connect to a peer support provider. Note: Secure TeleHealth is also being used for Peer Support Services in the larger behavioral Health community.
Section 107 of the Veterans Mental Health and Other Care Improvements Act of 2008 mandates "Peer support services provided by licensed providers of peer support services or veterans who have personal experience with mental illness."
