Trina's Tips of the Month
The Garden Spring is fast approaching, which brings beautiful flowers and more time to spend outside. For our furry friends please beware of toxic plants and bulbs.
By supervising them outside we can prevent them from digging up our gardens. Puppies especially need to be supervised as
they generally try to put anything in their mouths.
Make sure all gardening chemicals and mulches are put away and out of reach of your pets. Please take the time to review the ASPCA's list of toxic plants found at many veterinarian hospitals or on the web at www.aspca.org
Warm Weather and Vehicles With the weather warming up, we will be taking our pets out for more exercise, be sure you always bring water for them on your exercise route.
Please remember never to leave your pet in a locked car with the windows up. The internal temperature of a car is at least 20% warmer than the outside temperature. The windows of a car act as a magnifier for the sun's rays. In addition, your pet will create more hot air just from panting. This temperature can rise to deadly levels in just minutes.
In many states it is against the law to leave a dog unattended in a vehicle. If someone finds your pet in a car they will notify the local authorities and they will break into your car to get your pet out. They will then fine you for animal endangerment.
Enjoy the coming Spring months with your pets - just be mindful of things that can cause them harm.
