Bungees, Bob, Barb & Botswana The other day I was working outside getting things weatherized before the unseasonable cold and snow hit. I was tightening a canvas by re-attaching a bungee cord. As I pulled it taught there was an instant snapping and popping as the cord disintegrated in my hands. The constant tension combined with the summer heat and moisture had weakened the cord .
Presently we find ourselves in a place of tension. We will be released for Botswana only when all support is recorded in Springfield. We sense that time is short and we are working diligently to ensure that we can leave as soon after reaching 100% as possible. We are currently at 91% with less than $900 per month remaining.
Our goal is to leave in mid- November. We are currently packing to move out of our house by the end of October. We will live out of suitcases with Mom Wheeler until the day we leave... which remains a question mark. The uncertainty of it all creates tension. Holy tension. It is not out-of-control pressure that leads to disintegration and destruction (like my bungee cord) because the plan is submitted to the Lord. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 A couple months ago, as I was pondering our departure timeline, the Lord gave me Proverbs 16:9, "In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." This truth eases the tension so that it is not debilitating. Because of Christ we are not weakened but strengthened as He renews day by day. "If we hope for what we do not see we do with patience wait for it." Romans 8:25 We know that the Lord will bring in the support at the right time. He is faithfully working through to recruit the team ...160 strong so far! We will continue to do our part, drawing strength from your prayers, working to "sign" the remaining team members. And, we continually release it to the Lord and find our rest in Him and His perfect timing as He fully equips those He has called.

30 Cubed Challenge
The first week of October we issued the 30 cubed challenge: 30 individuals or churches, at $30/month by October 30th. So far, 9 have accepted the challenge...just 21 to go!!
Please pray with us. When this happens, together we will celebrate being fully funded! |
The kids were excited to ride an elephant at the Clay County Fair. There will be over 100,000 in Botswana... although not as friendly as this one! |
