DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS
March 3rd while Bob was traveling back from a pastor/board banquet in Muscatine, IA he had a first. A deer made the untimely decision to cross the road. It was a direct hit to the passenger side headlight area. On impact the deer flew up above the van. Needless to say Bob's first was the deer's last. Not only was the headlight history the radiator was punctured leaving the van immobilized. Thankfully Dave (Hope Assembly, Centerville) was willing to make the midnight reconaissance run to pick up Bob. What a servant's heart! The next morning Pastor Spencer & Lisa Keroff spent the better part of their day driving us to Ottumwa where we were able to rent a car to drive home. Originally, because of the mileage and age of the van, we thought the van would be totaled. However, after the insurance company assessed the damage they instructed us to get it repaired. We praise the Lord for this because it is reliable transportation for us in this itineration season.
This story has us thinking about "deer in the headlights" in general. We use that phrase to describe people who are confused, fearful, and on the verge of panic...all of which can lead to disaster. There are a lot of people who fall into this category right now with the economic and political instability worldwide. However, God's people should not be classified as such. As His children we are assured that He will supply every need as we seek first His Kingdom and righteousness. We face these times with peace in our hearts because He is our Peace and Provision. God's promises are yes and amen and endure forever!

OUCH! Thanks Pastor Spencer & Lisa! |
HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL?
Thank you for asking. Our glass is half full! We are grateful for so many of God's people hearing the call to join our team to reach the people of Botswana with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. With the continued prayers and financial support of so many our glass is sure to be overflowing in time for our early fall departure. Once the glass is 75% full we will purchase airline tickets and have an exact departure date. God is so faithful! |
