Learner Autonomy

Learner autonomy has been the subject of many studies but there have been fewer studies of what learner autonomy means to teachers. This study, conducted in Oman, reports on teacher beliefs and reported practices regarding learner autonomy. You can download the study for free.

Mini things

This is a lesson plan focused on writing. Sometimes when we ask students to write a composition they spend very little time at the important editing stage. In this lesson students do a couple of 'short writing' activities with the focus on editing and accuracy.

English for Business

This new section on the TeachingEnglish website contains free lesson plans and worksheets to download based on meetings, negotiations and socialising - with more areas to come soon!

What matters in grammar teaching

The full title of this seminar is 'Some things that matter in grammar teaching, and some that don't'. You can watch Michael Swan as he talks about the theory and practice of grammar, and its role in the classroom.

LearnEnglish apps

There are more and more LearnEnglish apps available for you and your learners to use on your mobile phone and tablet! They range from grammar and vocabulary support to fun games like the 60 Second Word Challenge. Find out more about how you can download them.
