Then the British Embassy and the British Council are pleased to invite candidates for a number of prestigious Chevening Scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year. Successful candidates will study for a post-graduate university degree in the United Kingdom. The Scholarship covers tuition fees and a return flight to the UK, as well as the costs of enrolment at British university and living costs for up to a year in the UK. Apply before 23 January. In addition to this scholarship, Weidenfeld Scholarships are open to Master of Public Policy (MPP) candidates from Morocco. The aim is to reward students who demonstrate exceptional academic merit. It will provide all tuition and college fees, and a stipend to cover living expenses in Oxford for the full duration of the Master of Public Policy course. Apply before 20 January. | |

University Governance and Quality Assurance
The British Council Morocco and the Ministry for National Education, Higher Education, Training and Scientific Research organized a national conference on "University Governance and Quality Assurance" 9-10 December 2011. This conference represents a new phase in the dynamics initiated in partnership with the British Council since 2006 on Quality Assurance in higher education, which aims at a better understanding of the experience of the United Kingdom to support the Moroccan Universities in the implementation of their quality system. The conference was co-facilitated by experts from Morocco and UK and was attended by the Permanent Under Secretary, all Moroccan Universities' Presidents, Deans, and Researchers from all over Morocco. English Through Drama
The aim of the course is help students build up their vocabulary and practise grammar though the medium of drama. It is primarily a speaking course, but there will also be a chance to develop writing skills. By drama, we mean short sketches, improvisations and role plays and we will use scripted plays and try and write our own sketches. The Role of ICT in ELT and ELL 8 January: Fes
This forum celebrates the role of ICT in Moroccan English language teaching and English language learning, as well as providing an opportunity for debating the issues around these topics in Morocco. The Moroccan association of Friends of English (MAFE) organises events in partnership with the British Council, encouraging teachers and learners of English to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas on-line and face-to-face.

Moroccan Biodiversity Exhibition
Serious threats essentially a consequence of human activity, weigh on behaviours in Morocco. Indeed, the impact of these activities often goes against biodiversity conservation. In extreme cases, human activities end in the extinction of animal or vegetable species and in the irreversible damage of some ecosystems. Interested in knowing more about the Moroccan biodiversity? The British Council, in partnership with the Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique - CNRST and Association Marocaine pour la Biodiversité - AMAB, is launching the first exhaustive exhibition in the knowledge of biodiversity in general and Moroccan Biodiversity in particular. This exhibition, showcased in English and Arabic languages, consists of 17 panels introducing the Moroccan Biodiversity to the general public, the second richest biodiversity in the Mediterranean area after the Turkish Biodiversity. The exhibition will be displayed in several cities and venues including MegaMall in Rabat for Science day and the Faculties of Science in Casablanca and Marrakech from January to March 2012.

YAANI First Training Module The Young Arab Analysts Network International (YAANI) is an initiative for regional youth-led network of young policy analysts who address major national and regional issues with a youth perspective. YANNI Policy Lab participants will meet in January, February, March and May 2012. The first and second meetings will take place in Rabat. The third in Tunis, and the fourth in Cairo. The first session is an introductory meeting where participants will take time to know one another, understand the purpose and goals of the programme, learn about the importance of sound policy-making and discuss how politics and policy interact. Most importantly, the participants will determine the policy issues they will tackle in dedicated groups over the next three sessions. | |

Ten University Presidents to the BETT A group of Ten Moroccan University Presidents as well as the Permanent Under Secretary and The Director of the Moroccan Research Centre will be attending a Study Tour visit to UK from 13 to 19 January. The programme will include a visit to BETT - British Educational Training and Technology- Show 2012, visit to the British Council, London and universities in London and Birmingham. | |
