New Chair of Panathlon Charity
Fantastic news! Giles Long MBE has become the new Chair of the Panathlon Charity. Giles has won 3 Paralympic Gold medals and is currently one of the Channel 4 presenters of "the Road to London 2012". Giles said: "Panathlon is a fantastic competition for young disabled people. It's going to be an inspiring 12 months with the Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to London. I look forward to helping Panathlon develop over the coming year." Full story here.

Panathlon Celebrate one year to go
We recently marked one year to go to the Paralympic Games at Stansted Airport in Essex, with 2 local Paralympic Gold Medallists and one local Panathlon school, Southview.
Paralympic champions Danny Crates and Dan Bentley, Boccia Gold Medallist from Beijing played Boccia against the Southview Panathlon team, proving sport can be played at every level, from school right through to the Paralympics! Thanks to our friends at London Stansted Airport (full story here)

Panathlon in Wiltshire
Five schools from across Swindon and Wiltshire took part in Panathlon in October; Brimble Hill, Uplands, Crowdys Hill, St Nicholas and Rowdeford. In a very close competition, Crowdys Hill won with 50 points, St Nicholas finished second with 44 and Brimble Hill and Uplands finished on 42 pt.

17 young leaders from Greendown Community College were trained by Panathlon on October 5th and then went on to officiate the competition on 12th October. Many thanks to both St. James's Place Foundation and Zurich Community Trust who supported different aspects of this programme throughout the year.

Panathlon and School Games
Panathlon is working with the Youth Sport Trust as part of the new School Games framework. School Games Organisers (SGO's) are able to choose Panathlon as one sport options they can select. Panathlon is already working with our colleagues in Essex and Kent regarding delivery of the Level 3 County Games Finals. More information to follow in the coming weeks and months.

England Footballers support Panathlon in West London
Due to a generous grant of £5,000 from the England footballers Foundation, Panathlon is working in partnership with Brentford FC Community Trust, to deliver footballing opportunities to a range of disabled young people in 5 West London boroughs throughout the next 9 months.
