30 become 5
30 London boroughs competed in the first round of Panathlon this year, and through the 8 knock-out competitions, this was reduced to 20 boroughs in round 2. Five further knock-out competitions, reduced this to the 5 Area Winners. Those through to the London Final on June 16th are Haringey (North), Croydon (South), Newham (East), Harrow (West) and Lambeth (Central).
Around 1,000 young disabled Londoners have taken part in 2011 and the full results of how it has all gone can be seen here.
5 GB Paralympians visited the area Finals in March to award medals and inspire competitors.

Merseyside
Two competitions took place in March, one for primary aged children and one for Secondary aged children. All 6 Merseyside Boroughs took part in each competition with the Halton team winning both. New competitors from mainstream schools took part this year and talented disabled competitors were identified in Football, Boccia and Athletics, and will now be moved on to regional NGB events. Many thanks to Merseyside Sports Partnership for organising this event with us. More info here.
