All systems Go!   


The 2011 Panathlon Challenge is well and truly underway with over 1,000 disabled young people competing in January and February across the country.

Mayor-logoTwelve competitions have taken place so far across the Capital involving 30 London Boroughs, to see who will qualify for the 5 County wide Finals in March. Coaching grants and equipment have been distributed and training courses delivered as a preparation for the competitions taking place over the next 4 months. The Jack Petchey Foundation has generously extended their partnership with Panathlon with an investment of £50,000. This will support our work in London and Essex and help us create new courses and qualifications for coaches and young leaders. Powerchair Football expands to Essex


Following on from our success in introducing Powerchair Football in London, we are expanding this project to Essex in 2011. First off, we have the official WFA Wheelchair Football Training Course to be held on Friday March 11. Please email ashley@panathlon.com if you would like a place on this course!
Panathlon has also secured funding for wheelchair attachments, footballs and coaching funds and will work with Essex F.A. on providing opportunities for young powerchair users throughout Essex to play football in 2011.

Training Courses
Panathlon are working with National Governing Bodies of Sport and other bodies, in 2011 to deliver training courses in a range of sports for coaches, young leaders and officials. If you are interested in a FREE place on any of these courses, please email ashley@panathlon.com

Hilton supports Essex


HiltonFFollowing the successful fundraising at Hilton Stansted in 2010, a further grant for £9,500 has been awarded to Panathlon for new expansion. Hilton in the Community Foundation visited our Panathlon event in Braintree in November and filmed some action - it is a great little film, please click the Youtube logo to see it!

Panathlon competitions coming soon!

Merseyside Panathlon takes place on 2 March (Primary) and 9 March (Secondary). Both events take place at the Greenbank Academy and is delivered in partnership with Merseyside Sports Partnership. Good luck to you all!

 

Kent Panathlon is now underway with Training Days delivered and coaching funds and equipment distributed. Kent competitions take place on May 3rd / 4th / 5th. For further details click here.    BBC_Children_In_Need 

Wiltshire Panathlon - more schools have joined the Swindon Panathlon this year and coaching and competitions will take place in the summer. More details to follow. Thanks to St. James's Place Foundation for supporting this new growth!

Panathlon adopts Inclusive & Active 2,

the new five year sport and physical activity strategy for disabled people in London.

'Inclusive and Active 2' has been created in partnership between the Greater London Authority (GLA), NHS London and Interactive. With a vision of active disabled Londoners, it aims to increase participation levels of disabled people, change the perception of disabled people being active and embed sport and physical activity within the mainstream provision.
