Get Rhythm & Bruise |
|

We know you're salivating to get ahold of the new release, so let's cut to the chase. You can listen to it and buy it here! And how did this 13 song opus come to be? Well...
About a year and a half ago, we sat around a bar table discussing how, maybe, we should make a real CD. "It'll be a cinch. We'll be done with the new songs and in the studio in a 2 months. We'll have the CD out in 4 months tops." Totally.
Rhythm & Bruise was recorded at Kaleidoscope Sound studios in Edison NJ. We knew it was the place for us after we toured the joint and found the kitchen stocked with, literally, penis soup.
To capture the electricity of our live shows, the CD was recorded almost entirely live in-studio (all of us jamming together) by the legendary Sal Mormando, who also mixed and co-produced it. Sal's diverse resume spans working with rockers like Clutch, Billy Squire and Patti Smith to Grammy nominated work with jazz artist Raphael Cruz. Here is the only known photograph of Sal:

According to his assistants Karli and Carey, Sal subsists entirely on "cigarettes and candy." Excellent rock credentials. Sal produced what we think is an amazing sounding CD, and, more amazingly didn't shoot a single one of us during the process, even while repeatedly saving us from ourselves. ("Sal, we'd like to mix this song using electric kazoo reverb... Dude, what's with the gun? ...Let us get you some M&Ms.") He has our undying gratitude.
Rhythm & Bruise was mastered (a final bit of mixing that adds sheen and levels all the songs' volumes) by Nathan James (Staind, The Bravery, Blondie) at The Vault. We were initially concerned with how, frankly, normal Nathan looked. But then he sacrificed a virgin on his mixing console before starting work, and we knew we were in good hands.
The final step in finishing the CD was commissioning world-famous rock illustrator Jay Jay Jackson to do the cover you see above. Along with producing art for Atalantic, Universal, and Epic Records, Jay Jay has also worked for Marvel Comics. Ergo she is the coolest person we have ever met.
And so Rhythm & Bruise came to be. Like the Ring of Power, it can only be destroyed in the fires of Mt. Doom. In the process of forging this epic we logged, by our estimation, about 1,000 hours of rehearsal and production time, scoured our nervous systems with more coffee than exists in all of Columbia, and indulged in a lot of really infantile humor, even by our emotionally retarded standards. We also went over budget, so if you're in the mood for molten metal, slammin' funk, and have a little dough to spend, pick up your copy of Rhythm & Bruise today! |
