This one speaks to management. It says that when we are unsure as to whether to institute a change in office policy or structure, we always ask the question: "Could this ruin us in four months?" As in 120 days. If we are leaning toward a change but not sure, and convinced it won't do us in - we try it!

 

Rationale

• Could we use another front desk staff member?
• Do we want to go from 45 minutes to hour-long hygiene visits?
• Do we want to drop a certain insurance due to low pay?
• Do we want to try another lab?
• Another supply company?
• Do we raise my crown fee a hundred dollars?

 

     This protocol helps answer these questions because they're all scary. And it gives you the calm to know there is always a way out without destruction. It's a mental ruse that will allow you to take more chances than you normally would. It's safe. It gives you a way back home if you need it.

     I will tell you up front: most of the time you won't need to go back home. You'll be glad you made the move. You'll see.
