Protocol # 27 *
 This protocol states that a patient who is 21 years old or younger and is seeking an appointment for more than routine needs must be accompanied by a parent or must inform the office where to locate their parent via phone during the appointment. This is to ensure that we not only have the consent to provide needed care, but also to have a verifiable financial source as well. "My dad's going to pay for this" is not verifiable information.
Rationale
There are only so many hours in a day. Those offices less productive than their potential will find that the reason is often the lack of productive time. This includes spending significant time with a patient only to find that they lack the means or consent to receive care.
 This is similar to the "Husband and Wife" protocol, which states when a new patient calls and indicates significant needs, the new patient coordinator will ask if the patient makes significant decisions about medical or dental care on their own or with their spouse.
