"Temporary Is Out"
Protocol # 24 *
New -- or even experienced -- front desk staff members don't always have clear guidelines on what's urgent and what is not  when it comes to recementation. Patient complaints and inconveniences can be greatly reduced by implementing this protocol.
Block out 15 minutes a day for recement time. It won't "do you in". Use this time for the patient "you have to get in".
Try the following as your guidelines:
Have to see them that day:
- Anterior temporary out (1st bicuspid to 1st bicuspid)
- Presence of pain
- If the patient wants it done that day
Don't have to see them that day:
- Posterior temp without pain
- Patient is flexible about recementation. ("It's a little tender but nothing I can't handle.") Recommend Fixodent in the provisional as a temporary fix.
