The Countdown Begins
Stop Watch With just over a month until the kick-off of the 2011 Trojan Horse, time starts to become of the essence for teams that still want to participate.  As you can see from "The List" we already have 17 that have applied and 12 of which are already PAID and locked in for this year's event.  Each year the Tournament has increased in size, however this year may remain the same or decrease slightly unless we see a rush of late entries.  We are still in talks with about a dozen or so teams in consideration and we anticipate this will be a busy month for those last minute entries.  Any/all teams that are still interested in taking part in this year's event need to act quickly and at least start by submitting an Online Team Application ASAP.  Once again, returning teams receive an automatic invite, but we still need an Application on file and you need to make sure you are in before the Tournament brackets begin to fill.  New teams are still encouraged to entry, however time is even more critical, whereas we need to review your Application before and actual invite can be extended.
The Original Trojan Horse Champs Return
Celina Bulldogs
Only five short years ago the Trojan Horse began with a humble eight teams.  Out of those eight teams was a small, undersized, rag tag looking team from Celina, Ohio.  These bulldogs dressed in green in white did not have the nicest uniforms and did not look like much as they began to arrive.  However, when they took the field, it was an entirely different story.  That team stomped through the brackets with margins of victory of 4 touchdowns and greater and there was just no stopping them.  Each game showcasing the many facets of attack they had in their arsenal; from a smash mouth power game that handed Troy an early loss, to an air attack that took out an unbeaten team from Tipp City.  The following year they fell short in a tough Championship game with Crestview and we have not seen them since.  However, it is with great anticipation we welcome the return of these Bulldogs to see what they have in store this year.
The Rivalry Continues
Piqua Indians
Every time the Indians of Piqua, Ohio enter the Trojan Horse you have a chance at seeing one of the oldest High School Rivalries potentially match up.  You see, Piqua is Troy's neighbor to the north and next weekend will actually be the 127th meeting between these two High School Rivals (FYI, Troy currently leads the rivalry 61-59-6).  That is over 100 years of history and is not only one of the oldest High School Rivalies in the State, but in the entire country.  So any time Piqua attends the Trojan Horse, there is always a chance they may meet up with Troy in what could be a preview of we may see on a Friday night several years from now.
Bulldogs of a Different Color
Defiance Bulldogs
They may not be previous Trojan Horse Champions, but this is the Defiance Bulldogs third consecutive entry into the Tournament.  Their first visit was the first time their program had ever traveled and entered a Tournament of this sort and they went 1-2 that weekend.  Last year they regrouped and returned to capture a 3rd place finish by way of a 12-8 victory over a very tough Marion Mavericks team.  This year the Bulldogs return and see if they can improve on that 3rd place from 2010.
Olentangy Doubles their Efforts
Olentangy Liberty Patriots
Olentangy has had a very succesful run in the Trojan Horse that past two years with them winning the "Iron Horse" trophy the first year and took 2nd to the stellar Center Grove Trojans from Greenwood, IN last year.  Olentangy represents the Olentangy Youth Athletics Assoication (OYAA) out of Lewis Center, OH and they have traditionally entered just one team, however this year Olentangy will double their efforts with the entry of TWO teams this year: the Olentagy Raiders and the Olentagy Seminoles.  The question is will this two team entry help or hurt their return to that Championship game?
The Pilots are ready to Take Flight
Ayersville Pilots The Ayersville Pilots are also from Defiance, Ohio and joined the Tournament last year with the recommendation of the Defiance Bulldogs.  They entered the Tournament with a early 0-29 loss to Lakota (who went on to win that Division), however they then won the next three game to capture the "Iron Horse" award with a 21-0 win over Van Wert.  Like the Bulldogs, the Pilots were a great addition to the Trojan Horse and we welcome their return to see if this 2nd year is the year they can take a shot at the Championship game.
Special Rates on Hotel Rooms
