Traveler's Corner

Peggy Clary traveled to South Africa with AAC on our Kruger-Coast Safari. She took so many great photos, we had a hard time choosing just one!  After much debate, we chose to share a photo of this wild dog that Peggy spotted in Hluhlwe-Mfolozi.  If you want to see more photos, check out our Facebook page!

October 2012
Greetings!
   Sandra Washburn Uganda classroom

Many of our travelers take an African safari and fall in love with a country or the whole complex, beautiful continent. They return again and again to discover and rediscover its myriad forms of magic.

Many travelers also wonder how they can give back. Options are only limited by imagination. We donate $25 from every safari to a worthy African charity. We are presently updating our charity list and will have new information for you next month. Additionally, we have finalized the itinerary for our 2013 AfricAid's Tanzania safari. It will be an extraordinary trip with a true insider's view into the lives of hard-working Tanzanian students who benefit from AfricAid's support (along with some super safari activities).

In the meantime, I am inspired by how AAC clients are actively contributing to causes in Africa. Whether it's Betsy Hoke volunteering with AfricAid schools in Tanzania or Sandra Washburn working with blind students on geography and wildlife identification in Uganda - people are making the world a better place every day.

Whatever your passion, we can custom-build an itinerary that offers the trip of your dreams and also allows you to make a difference.

Win Tickets to AfricAid's Art & Soul!

   Art & Soul 2010

AfricAid's annual Art & Soul gala is just a few days away. This Saturday (Oct 13th) we will be enjoying African themed snacks and cocktails, live performances by Mind & Body Dance Theatre and Paper Bird, as well as the chance to bid on local and Tanzanian art.  We'll also be watching the live auction where guests will have the chance to bid on a fantastic Tanzanian safari donated by Africa Adventure Consultants!  Proceeds from the evening help with educating young women in Tanzania.

Want to join us?  We are giving away two tickets to the Denver event.  Take a look at our Facebook page and answer our quiz question; we'll randomly pick a winner from all of the correct answers.  We will notify the winner via Facebook Thursday morning.

If you don't win, you can always buy tickets to the event. Hope to see you there!

This contest is limited to Colorado residents or anyone that plans to be in Denver this Saturday - there is no transportation included.

Celebrating Tanzania's Best

Tanzania celebrated 50 years of independence in December 2011.  To recognize this milestone, we are highlighting a special Tanzania itinerary every month in 2012.

Want an authentic African camping experience? Check out our 9-day Tanzania Camping Safari. You can choose from our 'classic' or 'adventure' camps; both are comfortable and offer everything you need for camping in the bush (the food is great, too!). The best part is that you get your own private campsites within the national parks - you'll be the first people out and about in the morning and the last people in!

If you'd like to learn more about this safari, or want to know what specials are available, give us a call.

Did You Know? zebra - g healey

Zebras have their own "smile"? They use a bared-teeth grimace that is both a greeting and a way to prevent aggression.
