August 2012
Greetings!
   Wildebeest River Crossing

The wildebeest migration has arrived in Kenya with thousands of wildebeest crossing the Talek and Mara Rivers and pouring into the Masai Mara, with even more animals on the way.  The migration is constant, but the river crossings and the dangers inherent with them seem to take it to a whole new level.

Witnessing the cooperative behaviors of hundreds of thousands of animals always gives me a sense of awe.  Every year these animals follow the rains to the sweetest, most nutritious grasses.  The journey is fraught with danger for them, but they must walk.  Their collective intelligence ultimately gets them through the toughest situations with the least amount of loss.

The migration is among the most special animal encounters you can witness in Africa.  It is both ancient and modern, and it is as sure as the sunrise.  Join us in witnessing this spectacle in the Serengeti ecosystem, whether it's November to June in Tanzania or July to October in the Masai Mara, Kenya.

AAC Safari Specialists Climbing Kilimanjaro

Final Kili Prep Hike Safari specialists Kim Dodson and Jenny Salentine are headed to Tanzania next week to conquer Africa's highest peak!  Kim and a few select lucky folks will first get a taste of some of Tanzania's most popular safari destinations - the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park

Then Kim and Jenny will take a crack at Kilimanjaro.  Several members of the climbing group did a final training climb up Colorado's 13,427 foot high Grizzly Peak this past weekend (pictured above).  They've had months of training and we have high hopes that all of the trekkers on this trip will touch the roof of Africa from Kilimanjaro's summit!

Jenny wanted a little R&R after her climb, so she will take a small group on to Zanzibar for a few days of fun in the sun.

We're checking their luggage to see if there's any room for the rest of us to join them.  Safari njema, ladies!
