Chobe Game Lodge in Botswana has been awarded the GREEN+ Eco Certification from the Botswana Tourism Board. The lodge is in the process of installing a reverse osmosis water filter so they will no longer need to fly in bottled water. The lodge also composts food scraps and processes recyclable waste. Kenya recently voted in favor of constitutional reforms. After the country's 2007 election violence, this year's peaceful elections impressed the international community and are seen as a step in the right direction for economic and tourism development. |

September 2010
Greetings!
Have you been to Zambia? If you answered "yes" then you are one of the few, the proud, the lucky. For those of you who haven't yet visited this little-known gem of a country, here are a few tips: Wildlife: Zambia has some of the best game viewing in all of Africa, especially of African wild dog. Walking: Zambia is known as the birthplace of the walking safari and it offers (especially in South Luangwa National Park) the best walking guides I've ever had. Water: Zambia is home to the mighty Zambezi River, which creates the famous Victoria Falls (or Mosi-oa-Tunya as it's called locally). The Zambezi also offers FANTASTIC canoeing, boating and fishing-be sure to include a visit to Lower Zambezi National Park to enjoy these. Weather: For safaris, Zambia is best visited from May to early November, although May can be quite wet and October/November uncomfortably hot. Victoria Falls flows year round, but in the height of the flow from April/May to July/August, the spray is quite dense and in the low-flow months, people call it Victoria Walls. We have lots more fun fact about Zambia. Give us a call to talk about it and plan your next safari!
Safari Njema,

Walk, Canoe and Boat Your Way Through Zambia!
Zambia has been described as one of Africa's hidden gems and we agree! Home to exceptional walking safaris, impressive Victoria Falls, the mighty Zambezi River, breath-taking lakes and wetlands, myriad birds, abundant wildlife, and raw, remote wilderness - it's difficult to encapsulate all this friendly country has to offer. For travelers looking for a bit of bush and beach, Zambia is an ideal spot as it is easily combined with pristine Lake Malawi. Our Wild Zambia and Malawi Safari pairs the adventure of walking in South Luangwa National Park with snorkeling and kayaking in the clear blue waters of Lake Malawi. In addition to the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia is also home to the Lower Zambezi National Park and Victoria Falls. Our Best of Zambia Safari combines the wildlife and remote camps of the South Luangwa with the magnificent Victoria Falls and the variety of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Did You Know? More on Leopards...
Zambia offers excellent leopard viewing, especially in the South Luangwa. Leopards are usually quite elusive, but can be spotted lounging in trees or resting in the afternoon heat. Leopards are considered the best climbers of all cats and can easily drag an impala kill high into a tree to keep their dinner safe from lion and hyena. Leopards can reach 140 pounds in weight and are solitary animals. Did you know the leopard's "sawing" call is used to advertise territory? By holding the head low, the ground acts as a sounding board and carries the call greater distances.
