Stop the Serengeti Highway! It's the greatest threat in the Serengeti's history - The government of Tanzania has approved a major commercial highway across the Serengeti National Park, in the direct path of ancient wildlife migration routes. Such a highway would be devastating to the area's wildlife and eco-system. Read more.

July 2010
Greetings!

How long does the history of civilization stretch back in Egypt? Is the Nile really the longest river in the world? Which ancient powerhouses ruled Egypt over the years? How many Cleopatras were there? These are just a few of the fascinating questions answered on our recent visit to Egypt. This was my second visit kent and Kelly Pyramidsthere, my first having taken place in my backpacker days. Needless to say, this trip, including our luxury Nile Cruise, was very different, but very rewarding in its own way. From the pyramids, to the temples and tombs, and sailing down the Nile, Cairo, the desert and beautiful beaches -- Egypt has something for everyone!

We've actually been selling Egypt upon request for years, but now we're making it official! Please read below for my trip report from our latest expedition and visit our website to view a great sample itinerary - the 9-day Highlights of Egypt!

Read more below on how to work with us to make your dream safari a reality, plus more on great discounts and specials currently available in Africa. We are also excited to announce a January 2011 Timkat and Tribes small group departure to Ethiopia - witness the colorful Timkat festival in Gondar before heading South into the Lower Omo Valley. This trip is ideal for photographers and cultural enthusiasts alike!

Announcing Egypt!

Kent and Kelly just returned from an amazing trip in Egypt (Kent's second trip) and we're pleased to announce our new Egypt program including the 9-day Highlights of Egypt and custom itineraries.  Read about Kent's trip below and on our blog.

"Cairo International Airport's Terminal 3 makes arrivals in Egypt much more convenient than in years past, if you are flying a Star Alliance carrier.  With roomy concourses and expedient immigration and customs areas, we
Kent at templewere in and out in no time. The same cannot be said for Cairo's streets which are clogged with drivers who, in their frustration with the maddening traffic and congestion, use their horns liberally and stop for only the boldest of pedestrians...after visiting a few hotels, we ventured to the famous Abu El Sid restaurant for dinner. There, after a long wait at the bar (reservations recommended), we enjoyed the best Egyptian meal of the trip..." Read more on our blog.

Custom Safaris: Your Dream Trip is a Reality!

So you've always dreamed of trekking Kilimanjaro, rafting the Zambezi, camping in Botswana, kayaking on Lake Malawi and relaxing on a beach in Mozambique. Oh, and you want to do that in one trip. Not only is it possible, but as experts in African travel, we can pull your dream trip together and make sure it runs seamlessly.

Kayaking Lake Malawi - Wilderness Safaris imageOver the many years that we have been creating customized safaris, one of our favorite trips was a honeymoon safari to Botswana, Zambia and Namibia including romantic surprises like sleeping out under the stars at Chitabe Lediba Camp and watching sunrise over the dunes of Sossusvlei. One traveler recently volunteered at an orphanage in Tanzania and then headed out on safari (stay tuned for more on her experience!).

After spending many weeks a year in Africa annually, we've likely done exactly what you are looking to experience and know how to make it happen. There are no additional costs or fees involved in planning a custom safari, but do plan well in advance so we can be sure to confirm your top choice camps and lodges! Contact us for more information on planning a custom safari.
