Safari News from Africa Adventure Consultants May 2009
Greetings!
As you read this, I should be 35,000 feet above the Sahara Desert on my way to Kigali, Rwanda--assuming I made all my connections. Otherwise, I could be eating a bad slice of pizza at Washington Dulles! I look forward to repo rting back on changes, improvements and new opportunities from Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania. In the meantime, you can get more info and tips about travel to Africa from our new blog here.
The new opportunities will certainly continue to be discounts and special offers available for the remainder of 2009. I'll say it again, as this phrase is becoming my mantra--this is the year to take a safari--it's cheaper than last year! Below, you'll find several new deals and discounts. I believe the Wilderness Safaris offer is the most appealing--book by May 31 for travel any time in 2010 and get 2009 prices! In other news, please check out our Safari Shop to find quality safari gear and clothing at excellent prices. This trip, my family and I are testing the Eagle Creek 22" Hovercraft Rolling Bag. We've got a lot to carry with the kids coming along!

Nature Videos Bring Africa into Our Living Rooms!
Each year the Kalahari Desert's flamingo population treks across the barren desert for weeks in search of a lasting water source. With parents in the lead, the flamingo chicks follow, trying to survive each day. Watch the PBS video here. The Drakensberg Mountains rise from South Africa's plains to elevations of more than 11,000 feet. The hostile, mountainous environment is home to the few species that can manage to survive there--baboon, eland, vulture and others. Every spring, the animals of the Drakensbergs summit the peaks to reach the green grasses of the high-mountain plateau. Their journey is a spectacular feat. Watch it here.
