March 2009
Greetings!
Thanks to everyone who visited us last month at the Africa Adventure Consultants booth at the New York Times Travel Show and at our Beers and Safaris Event at the Hop Devil Grill. It was great to see some "old" faces--clients who have traveled with us over the years and stopped by to say hello--and I was especially encouraged by the number of new adventurers inquiring about safaris to Africa. The show really reinforced my belief that travel and exploration are essential to our happiness and that there is a lot of pent-up demand out there.
As I mentioned last month, there continue to be great discounts offered in many destinations. (Below, you'll find a few of the best current deals.) This, combined with some of the lowest summer airfares in years, means that 2009 is the year to travel to Africa. Space is still available at many of our favorite camps and lodges for the coming months, so give us a call and take advantage of some of the best deals to Africa we've seen.

FAMILY TRAVEL: SPRING BREAK & SUMMER VACATION
It's not too late to plan your family getaway for Spring Break or Summer Vacation. We have adventures for families with children of all ages and activity levels. Kid-friendly guides and accommodations, not to mention excellent value, make Kenya a hot-spot for a summer vacation safari. More adventurous families with older kids can head out on a walking safari in Zambia and kayaking on Lake Malawi, or families with teens and college kids home for summer can take on a challenging trek up Kilimanjaro!
And speaking of family safaris, we invite you to follow Kent & Kelly as they plan and prepare for their first real family safari with their boys, Grady (5) and Tate (4). We will be traveling to Tanzania in May with the boys and Grandma Bev. Most of the flights are booked. Kelly used frequent flyer miles on United to fly to Nairobi (Yes, it is possible with lots of work on the phone and a few extra connections on the way). After spending the night in Kenya, we'll move down to Tanzania and do a family-paced safari--meaning we'll try to use camps and lodges with pools and limit the amount of moving around, etc. We're now looking at which inoculations are prudent for children. More to come in next month's edition of Safari News.
