Stockpiled Ivory Sold

Last fall, 4 southern Africa countries (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe) auctioned 108 tons of stockpiled ivory to winning bidders China and Japan. The sale was approved by the Convention on International Trade in Engdangered Species (CITES) which has allowed this twice for countries with growing and well-managed elephant populations, though the sales are always contraversial.

February 2009
Greetings!

Happy belated New Year! We hope that you are as optimistic as we are about positive change in 2009.

We have many exciting developments to report so I'll get right to it. I'm very pleased to welcome Lyndsay Harshman as our Director of Sales & Marketing. Lyndsay comes to us with years of experience running safaris to Africa and we know that she'll be a wonderful addition to our growing company.

We are also very proud to announce that we've been named one of the Top Adventure Travel Companies on Earth by National Geographic Adventure Magazine. This is the second straight year we've received this honor and we were especially pleased that we ranked second overall in the Safari category, beating out some much larger competitors.

Finally, I'd like to invite all of our New York City area clients and friends to visit us at the New York Times Travel Show, February 7 and 8 at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center. We are also co-hosting a fun and casual beer tasting event with Flying Dog Ales. Please have a beer with us at the Hop Devil Grill in the East Village on Feb. 7. Details for all our events in New York below.

Happy travels,
