Jerry Linenger, Hero and Astronaut to Headline Annual Banquet
"The Sky is Not the Limit: My 132 Days off the Planet"
Jerry Linenger is one of the highest rated speakers that we think you will enjoy. Jerry spent 132 days off the planet as an astronaut and recounts not only the exciting & hazardous event of his mission, but he also candidly focuses on the personal relations and feeling these events provoked feeling of isolation, frustration, and fear counter pointed by self-reliance, determination, and courage. Jerry survived an out-of-control spacecraft tumbling through darkness, low oxygen, the worst fire ever to occur in space, and a language challenge with fellow crewmembers that spoke only Russian. His message is genuine and spoken by someone who has put his life on the line. Click Here for ticket prices & to download a registration form. Click Here to register online today! |

AAA Montana was a wonderful host for our June Business After Hours. We would like to thank all of you that attended as well as all the Chamber Board members who came out in support for this great business. Over 130 people turned out to listen to AAA's Assistant Manager Jackie Kerr along with other AAA employees talk about this great business and all that they have to offer. Guests enjoyed a wide variety of delicious foods, beverages, and wonderful door prizes. Food was provided by Blue Canyon and a big thank you goes out to the other sponsors of this event which included Big Sky Brewing and Culligan Water. Without our continuous generous beverage sponsor's support this event would not be possible. |

Chamber to Launch New Governmental Affairs Committee
Currently the Chamber is at its largest membership since 1975 and with this growth comes a new opportunity and responsibility to become a more proactive player in government. To achieve this, the Chamber needs a structure that ensures a voice advocating for the issues that unite all businesses. Business Affairs Committee Chair Ending Three Years of Service
The Chamber would like to extend a warm thank you to Neal Marxer who has chaired the Business Affairs Committee for the last three years. We appreciate his dedication and support he has given to the Chamber and to this committee.
A Message from Outgoing Chair Neal Marxer.
The Business Affairs Committee has been updated on Plum Creek and the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge Partnership during the last two months. In May Jim Lehner gave a presentation regarding Plum Creek in Montana. Plum Creek employs 1400 people in Montana, owns 1.2 million acres and has nine manufacturing facilities. Seventy one percent of Plum Creek's real estate sales since 2000 have been to help conserve land, and 0.04 percent of their current projects are residential communities. During the June meeting Tom France of the National Wildlife Federation and Rick Frankie from Smurfit-Stone presented the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge Partnership. This has been a collaboration effort to develop a bill for congress. Several environmental groups and timber companies have worked together to develop this legislation. Click Here to read more | |
