Dear Friends,

Faith United Methodist Church and its pastor wish to express our deep  appreciation for the many kindnesses of many of you in the Dakotas who have come to lend a hand in rebuilding homes and lives since the Souris Basin flood.  The devastation is still readily seen-but each day headway is being made.

Most major college football programs begin preseason practice this week. Usually a time of anticipation, a somber tone engulfs summer camps from the Big 10 to the Big 12 to the Southeast Conferences. This year, college football confronts fundamental moral questions.

Jerry Sandusky, a long-serving, highly respected assistant football coach was convicted of 45 counts of serial child molestation. He awaits an almost certain life sentence in prison. His misdeeds occurred at one of the premier football programs and universities in America - Penn State University.

That All May Have Life

By Ruby Walters, Mohall, ND

"That all May Have Life" was the theme for the Dakotas Conference School of Christian Mission.  The northern site school was held at Jamestown College July 19-22, 2012 with 50 participants.  Dean Shirley Van Camp from Drayton, ND, and assistant Dean Carolgene Wolf-Matthieson from Ypsilanti, ND planned and challenged us to a great school!

DAKOTAS WALK TO EMMAUS FALL WOMEN'S WALK

Dakotas Walk to Emmaus will hold the annual Women's Walk on October 4-7, 2012. The Walk to Emmaus is named so because the experience is very similar to the Bible story in Luke 24:13-34 in which the risen Christ joins the two disciples who were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus. By walking with Jesus, reflecting on the scriptures, breaking bread together, and sharing their resurrection stories, the disciples experienced Christ's presence and their hearts burned within them. The Walk to Emmaus is your opportunity to walk with the Lord and rediscover God's burning presence in your life.
